Friends of Paraplegics was established in 2012 by the professionals and few graduates (Ex-patients) of the Paraplegic Center Peshawar, with the aims and objectives to provide a platform for Center’s graduates where they can interact with each other and get necessary assistance regarding their problems. Owning to the phenomenal success of this informal setup the organization was formally registered in 2014.

resolve not to limit ourselves to conferences, seminars and protests, nor would we compromise our mission for any kind of personal and/or organizational gains.
Our focus is to, organize most, if not all the financially independent, courageous, hardworking, forward looking individuals with functional impairments, blend them out, with kind hearted and resourceful people from all walks of life, train and educate them regarding the issues, right and plight of people with disabilities, identify their problems, find low cost local solutions thereof and embark upon a grand, step wise, “Ability Movement” in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and beyond.
Over a short span of time, we have succeeded to gain the trust of a sizable portion of “FRIENDS” from a cross section of the society, cashing on the sincere but hard work of our colleagues with functional impairments, most of whom were treated and rehabilitated at “Paraplegic Center Peshawar”(PCP).
The successful execution of a few small but very affective projects (like, Special talent exhibition (2013), participation in National Paralympics (2014), participation in wheelchair cricket tournament (2015), collection of statistics regarding 2% quota implementation in collaboration with department of Social Welfare Govt of KP (2016), tourism for all (2016), law suit in Peshawar High Court, to make BRT wheelchair accessible (2016), Law suit for the inclusion of PWDs in Census 2017, Ability Sports Festival (2017) etc) has brought us into the limelight and all the organizations and/or departments, who have anything to do with disability or people with disabilities are now approaching us for consultation and collaboration. A large numbers of people with or without disabilities are joining hands with us in march towards our goal of an “all inclusive society”.
We are aware of the fact that, fighting for an inclusive society with equal rights & equal opportunities, in a low income, war torn country like Pakistan, is an uphill task and we will have to endure a slew of financial, socio-cultural and political hurdles, we are determined to stand up and get away with all such hurdles, with our missionary zeal. (Insha-Allah)
